Upcoming Events at Bennington Battlefield



Fall Foliage Hike | October 14, 4:00 PM
Under the flagpole on the hilltop (5231 RT-67)


Join us for a hike of Battle Loop Trail to enjoy the colors of autumn.
The trail covers approximately one mile over moderate terrain.




Halloween Drive-in Movie Screening | October 15, 7:00 PM
On the grounds of the Barnett House (30 Caretakers Road)


We will be screening a Halloween classic on the grounds of the Caretakers House. The movie will be shown drive-in style, on a large outdoor screen. Guests will be able to watch the movie from the comfort of their own cars and tune into the audio of the film via their car stereo. BYO snacks. PG, family friendly. The terms of our license prevent us from naming the movie in publicity. (Certainly we would not want to say the name out loud three times.) Contact david.pitlyk@parks.ny.gov for details.





Book Discussion:
Turncoat: Benedict Arnold and the Crisis of American Liberty

Focus Tour: Battlefield Burials | October 28, 2:00 PM
On the grounds of the Barnett House (30 Caretakers Road)


This tour will focus on the aftermath of the battle and discuss the (sometimes) final disposition of combatant’s mortal remains. Please note precise locations will not be given in order to protect any cultural resources in situ




82nd Annual WCHS Meeting and Presentation on Philip Skene and the Battle of Bennington

October 29, 10:00—2:00 Skene Manor
(8 Potter Terrace, Whitehall, NY)


The 82nd annual meeting of the Washington County Historical Society will take place at the Skene Manor. Coffee hour will begin at 10:00 a.m.

The business meeting will follow at 10:30 ending with awards. The program, “Philip Skene and the Battle of Bennington” by David Pitlyk will begin at 11:45.

Benedict Arnold: Hero Betrayed
Screening & Lecture

Filmmakers Tom Mercer and Anthony Vertucci will screen scenes from their new documentary film, Benedict Arnold: Hero Betrayed, showcasing General John Burgoyne's campaign of 1777 including the raid on Bennington.
