We concluded our 2017 season on Veterans Day, November 11 and welcomed local scouts to assist us in a flag retreat ceremony.

As the sun went down, we snapped the picture below. Thank you to our staff, volunteers, Friends group members and donors who made this an exceptional season.

17th Annual Fall Festival all Loads of Fun and prizes!

On Saturday, October 21st, the HFCS PTA held its seventeenth annual Fall Festival with HFCS bustling with over 400 attendees with vendors selling their wares, kids doing craft projects, some amazing pumpkin displays, and everyone enjoying baked goods made by many volunteers and food provided by The Kiwanis.

What a month!
The 240th anniversary of the battle has come and gone. To mark it, we held a two day reenactment weekend and hosted our annual commemoration ceremony. On top of that, Dr. Robert Selig visited the site and delivered a presentation on the topic of battlefield burials. Those who attended his talk are unlikely to ever forget it.


Looking ahead, we have a great calendar of events for the month of September.

Bennington Battlefield State Historic Site located on NYS RT-67 will host a reenactment of the Battle of Bennington on August 12th and 13th as well as a commemoration August 16th.

Encampments will be open to the public at 10:00 AM both days. On Saturday, August 12th at 2:30 visitors may observe the attack on the Dragoon Redoubt. On Sunday, August 13th there will be an attack on the Tory Fort at 1:30 PM.

CiviCure Acquires Historic Wood Block Building


After years of fundraising and friend raising, CiviCure (Civic and Cultural Restoration) purchased the Wood Block Building, 1-5 Main Street in the Village of Hoosick Falls on Friday, April 28.

Hoosick’s first-ever “Bloom Launch” features fifty blue spheres on which local community artists will paint colorful blooms of their own creation. For starters, we are having a spring hike tomorrow, "Mapping the Battle of Bennington" Saturday April 15 at 1:00 PM. The group will meet at the main parking area off of NYS RT-67. As we walk the 1-mile Battle Loop Trail we will be looking at the landscape through a variety of historical and modern maps.

HAYC3 Offers Texas Hold’em Tournament

HAYC3 is offering Texas Hold’em on the first and third Friday of each month. The next dates are March 3rd and 17th, 2017. Newcomers and experienced players are all welcome. Doors open at 6 p.m., with play beginning at 6:30. The buy-in is $40.00 with an option for one $20.00 rebuy and $10 for High Hand. The HAYC3 Armory is located at 80 Church Street on the corner of Elm Street in historic downtown Hoosick Falls, N.Y. Based on analytical results of testing on water samples collected from the recently installed full-capacity granular activated carbon (GAC) treatment system and from the clearwell at the Village of Hoosick Falls Water Treatment Facility, the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) has determined that the full-capacity system is operating in accordance with the approved design and producing water with non-detectable levels of PFOA.
