The Cultural Resource Survey of Bennington Battlefield Is Now Complete!

It has been a long time coming, but we are pleased to announce that we have concluded the project begun in 2015 with the American Battlefield Protection Program to study Bennington Battlefield. If you click here you will be taken to the education page of our website. There you will find various sections of the report available as a series of PDF files. The first two, titled "Public Report 1" and "Public Report 2" contain the report itself. The primary sources, previously published, are expanded to include even more.

We hope that you will keep in mind that some information in this report has been redacted with the aim of protecting sensitive resources. This is done in compliance with the Archaeological Resources Protection Act of 1979. The goal is to share as much as possible without providing a road map to unscrupulous parties who might wish to remove artifacts that remain in situ on public land and to protect the privacy of landowners who cooperated in the study.

2018 Commemoration

Join us as we mark the anniversary of the Battle of Bennington in a ceremony atop “Hessian” Hill. This year, the event will include students participating in the HFCSD Summer History Institute.
Battle Weekend: Battle of the Pies
Saturday, August 18, 3:30 PM to 6:00 PM: 423 Main St, Bennington, VT
This baking contest is both an opportunity to test your pie-making skills and compete to win a cash prize, or simply an opportunity for you to eat apple pie to your heart’s content. Battlefield representatives will be on hand serving up a side of history.
Battle Weekend: Hourly Tours
Sunday, August 19, 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM: Bennington Battlefield RT-67, Hoosick, NY
Make a visit to the battlefield a part of your battle weekend. Tours will be offered on the hour starting at 10:00 AM and concluding at 4:00 PM to fit your schedule.
