Hoosick Falls Central School Parent Teacher Association

HFCS to Host Book Fair Event on June 2nd

Hoosick Falls Central School will host a Scholastic Book Fair and ice cream social on June 2, 2010 from 6pm to 8pm in the elementary cafeteria. The annual event hosted by the PTA is to increase literacy among students and raise funds to purchase books for the elementary school library. Families, teachers, and the community are invited to attend the Book Fair, featuring a fun theme: Book Fair Diner: All You Can Read!

The Book Fair will offer specially priced books and educational products including new releases, award-winning titles, children’s classics, interactive software, adult books, and current bestsellers from more than 100 publishers. Book Fair customers may help the school build classroom libraries and improve children’s reading skills by purchasing books through the Classroom Wish List and donating loose change to the One for Books® programs.

PTA Founders’ Day Award Winner

To honor the memory and keep alive the spirit, which motivated the action of the PTA founders, and in recognition of all of Hoosick Falls’ volunteers, the HFCS PTA will be hosting a year-end thank-you celebration on Monday, June 7, 2010, at 6:30pm in the Elementary School Library. Refreshments will be served; a brief year-end business meeting will take place following the celebration PTA members and non-members are welcome.

At this celebration, the PTA will also be awarding this year’s Founders’ Day Award to Helen Hemendinger. In addition to being recognized as a person who has made an outstanding contribution to the well-being of children and youth, Hemendinger has been awarded $100 to give to a children's association/organization of her choice.
